Trees were toppled, skylights blown out, fences damaged: post-tropical storm Fiona left its mark on Dal campuses last weekend, but facilities crews worked hard to keep buildings powered and students and other community members safe.

Hurricane Fiona is the most devastating storm to hit Atlantic Canada. International collaboration between ocean measurement institutions is necessary to help efficiently plan responses to hurricanes, writes Anya Waite (Associate Vice-President Research) and Eric Siegel, both with the Dal-led Ocean Frontier Institute.

The ÆÞÓÑ Medical Campus Response Team has been supporting harm reduction at Dal for nearly a decade. Now, the student-based team will be assisting the university with medical calls as well as part of a new pilot project with Security Services.

A message from Rick Ezekiel, vice-provost student affairs, to Dal students and our broader community regarding a large unsanctioned street party is being planned off campus the weekend of Sept. 23-24.

More than a dozen students and alumni from ÆÞÓÑ and universities across the region will compete in the Falling Walls Lab Atlantic Canada pitch competition next week — each given just three minutes to impress a panel of judges with their impactful ideas.
