Is it possible to use engineering to help fix a heart? At Dal Engineering, students are combining coding, electronics and biomedical research to explore new possibilities for treating heart conditions.

Concrete Canoe Team

There are so many opportunities to gain hands-on experience outside of the classroom. Our Concrete Canoe Team is a great example. This year, students designed and built an 18-foot canoe made of concrete and raced it at the Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition.


Capstone 2

A group of Dal Engineering students teamed up with a local engineering firm to explore how to save a historic Cape Breton lighthouse as part of their end-of-year Capstone project. It’s just one example of how Capstone gives students the opportunity to take on real-world engineering challenges and put their skills to work.


Robotics Competition

Third-year electrical engineering students were given a handful of materials, a small budget and a challenge: design and build an autonomous robot that could compete against their classmates.
